A person is to install five devices each 6 7/8 inches wide with 3 1/2 inches between switches. how much space will be needed to
solong [7]
Refer to the diagram shown below.

w = 6 7/8 in = 6.875 in, the width of each device.
d = 3 1/2 in = 3.50 in, the space between teo devices.

The total space needed is
D = 4(w+d) + w
    = 5w + 4d
    = 5*6875 + 4*3.5
D  = 48.375 in  or 48 3/8 in

Answer:  48 3/8 inches or 48.375 inches

Find the fourth point of a parallelogram given the first three (more than one correct answer is possible): (0,6), (5, -1) and (3
inysia [295]

Answer:

The fourth point of the parallelogram is one point among (-2,2), (2,10) and (8,-12).

Step-by-step explanation:

Given information: The first three vertices of parallelogram are (0,6), (5, -1) and (3,-5).

Let fourth point of the parallelogram is (a,b).

Diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other. It means midpoint of both diagonals are same.

Midpoint formula:

Midpoint=(\frac{x_1+x_2}{2},\frac{y_1+y_2}{2})

Case 1: If the point (0,6), (5, -1) and (3,-5) are consecutive, then pairs of opposite vertices are (0,6) and (3,-5), (5,-1) and (a,b).

(\frac{0+3}{2},\frac{6-5}{2})=(\frac{5+a}{2},\frac{-1+b}{2})

(\frac{3}{2},\frac{1}{2})=(\frac{5+a}{2},\frac{-1+b}{2})

On comparing both sides, we get

\frac{3}{2}=\frac{5+a}{2}

3=5+a

a=-2

\frac{1}{2}=\frac{-1+b}{2}

1=-1+b

b=2

It means the fourth point of the parallelogram is (-2,2).

Case 2: If the point (0,6), (5, -1) and (3,-5) are not consecutive, then pairs of opposite vertices are (0,6) and (5,-1), (3,-5) and (a,b).

(\frac{0+5}{2},\frac{6-1}{2})=(\frac{3+a}{2},\frac{-5+b}{2})

(\frac{5}{2},\frac{5}{2})=(\frac{3+a}{2},\frac{-5+b}{2})

On comparing both sides, we get

\frac{5}{2}=\frac{3+a}{2}

5=3+a

a=2

\frac{5}{2}=\frac{-5+b}{2}

5=-5+b

b=10

It means the fourth point of the parallelogram is (2,10).

Case 3: If the point (0,6), (5, -1) and (3,-5) are not consecutive, then pairs of opposite vertices are (5,-1) and (3,-5), (0,6) and (a,b).

(\frac{5+3}{2},\frac{-1-5}{2})=(\frac{0+a}{2},\frac{6+b}{2})

(\frac{8}{2},\frac{-6}{2})=(\frac{a}{2},\frac{6+b}{2})

On comparing both sides, we get

\frac{8}{2}=\frac{a}{2}

8=a

\frac{-6}{2}=\frac{6+b}{2}

-6=6+b

b=-12

It means the fourth point of the parallelogram is (8,-12).

The pair of points (6, y) and (10, –1) lie on a line with slope one quarter. what is the value of y? (1 point)a. –5
Kazeer [188]

The slope of this connecting line segment is
         -1 - y        1     -(1+y)
m = ---------- = ----- = --------
         10-6          4        4

Thus, 4 = -4(1+y), or 4 = -4 - 4y, or -8 = - 4y.    y = 2 (answer)

Please help asap math problem I don't understand
Karolina [17]
The first table is a function. The second table is not because the x value 3 has two y values of 3 and 5. Change one of the x values of 3 to 2 and it would be a function. (Change (3,3) to (2,3) or (3,5) to (2,5), or any number that isn't already listed as an x value)
