x^2\gt2x-2

x^2-2x+2\gt0

You are essentially asking at this point where is the quadratic function greater than 0. To get the interval find the roots. Between the roots the function is guaranteed to be LESS THAN zero. Everywhere else the function is greater than 0.

x^2-2x+2=0

Use Vieta's rule to get the roots,

(x-1)(x-1)=0

Both roots are the same so no value is less than 0 which means all values except at the point of root are strictly greater, the point of root is at x_{1,2}=1 which means the set for which the quadratic function is greater than 0 is \mathbb{R}-\{1\} "all real numbers except 1".

To convert this into interval notation use all numbers up to 1 but not including and all numbers after 1 but not including,

(-\infty,1)\cup(1,\infty)

Hope this helps :)

A line segment has endpoints at (–1, 4) and (4, 1). Which reflection will produce an image with endpoints at (–4, 1) and (–1, –4
katrin2010 [14]

Answer:- A reflection of the line segment across the line y = –x .

Explanation:-

A reflection over the line y = -x, the x-coordinate and y-coordinate interchange their places and they are negated (the signs are changed).

Given :- A line segment has endpoints at (–1, 4) and (4, 1) such that it reflects produce an image with endpoints at (–4, 1) and (–1, –4).

(-1, 4)→(-4, 1) and

(4, 1)→(-1, -4)

Thus this shows a reflection of the line segment across the line y = –x.

Discussion Prompt: A fair coin is tossed twice and the number of heads is recorded. Jose says the P(1 head) = 1/2, while Jeff st
NemiM [27]

Let H represent heads and T represent tails.

Writing HH means we get two heads and HT means we get heads first, then tails second, and so on.

We have these four possible outcomes when flipping two coins

  • HH
  • HT
  • TH
  • TT

Of those four outcomes, two of them have exactly one head show up (HT and TH). The probability of getting exactly one head is 2/4 = 1/2, so this is why Jose is correct.
