Why does Faustus wish to be a beast?
atroni [7]

Answer:

Faustus wish to be a beast because (A) Beasts feel no pain.

Explanation:

Faustus is very clever and urges for many things in life. He wants knowledge and power that surpasses that of humans.

Mephistopheles is the beast Faustus wishes to be. He thinks that he can fulfil all his dreams only by becoming a devil or a beast. So, he makes a deal with the beast and exchanges his soul with that of a beast in lure of knowledge and power. Faustus thinks that all beats are happy and when they die their souls dissolve. So, throughout his life, he commits sin and when at the end he realises his mistake and repents. But it is too late then.

Read the excerpt from Act III, scene ii of Romeo and Juliet. Juliet: And bring in cloudy night immediately. Spread thy close cur
stepladder [879]

The phrases foggy night, hidden, and spread thy close curtain all support the theme of gloom. So, closed curtain, cloudy night, eyes may wink, and unseen are the correct words and phrases.

What is the significance of the dark motif?

On an overcast night, all of the stars should be visible. When this happens, the sky will get even darker due to the fact that all sources of light will be blocked.

Being hidden also supports the idea that it was too dark outside for anybody to see Romeo come to see her, as well as the fact that there was a dark enough location in which Romeo could navigate without fear of guards catching sight of him.

The phrase "spread thy tight curtain" refers to the darkness and Juliet's expectation that curtains will appear to cover the sky.

The line "runaway's eyes may wink" could be added as an extra phrase. Juliet refers to the night as "runaway," however she also sees the stars as "eyes," blinking.
