An infinitive is the base form of a verb plus the simple form of the Verb.

Further Explanation:

The infinitive form is the word to plus the simple form of a verb. When two or more verbs are placed to each other along with actions in a sentence, The verb which comes after or the second verb should be in the infinitive form most of the times and in only a few instances it is in participle form. There can be some instances when these sentences are formed with no difference in the meaning, but there are no rules which are applied in order to know which form of the verb is required.

"The verb which must be followed by an infinitive is “want” and it can’t be followed by any participle.

 1. She wants to buy new clothes.
 2. He likes to dance.

Infinitive verbs are the verbs that you generally see in the dictionaries. The Infinitive form of verbs is always preceded by the word ‘To’.

Explanation:

The Danish people were relieved that this wellknown warrior had come to help them kill Grendel. He killed the monster himself, without the help of any Danish warriors. The Danish were great fighters but the beast had been ravaging their people and their lands for too long.

How can Winston from 1984 be compared to a new pair of shoes??
77julia77 [94]
Apparently, Winston is a drunkard in 1984. He can be
compared to a rock because there's nothing new under the sun for him. He eats,
drinks, and is merry. Nothing else happens and it's the same routine. However, Winston is surprisingly observant and intellectual. He keeps a diary that has his thoughts composed in them; thoughts that could result in his death. He's like a pair of new shoes because his thoughts are binging the totalitarian state to a new era. He's giving others new freedoms and he is establishing a new rebelution. (I know that's not a word, but you'll understand what it means had you have read the book.)
