Explanation:

Stanley Yelnats, a boy who has bad luck due to a curse placed on his great- great-grandfather, is sent to Camp Green Lake, a juvenile detention camp, for a crime he did not commit. Stanley and the other boys at the camp are forced to dig large holes in the dirt every day. Stanley eventually realizes that they are digging these holes because the Warden is searching for something. As Stanley continues to dig holes and meet the other boys at the camp, the narrator intertwines three separate stories to reveal why Stanley's family has a curse and what the Warden is looking for.

When he was a boy, Stanley's great-great-grandfather, Elya Yelnats, received a pig from Madame Zeroni, a gypsy, in exchange for a promise. Elya's promise was that after the pig grew strong he would carry Madame Zeroni, who only had one leg, up a mountain and sing her a song that she had taught him. After becoming disillusioned with the girl he thought he loved, however, Elya hops a boat to America, forgetting his promise to Madame Zeroni. Elya marries and has a child in America and always thinks about Madame Zeroni, who he believes has cursed him because of his failure to fulfill his promise. He knows that Madame Zeroni's son lives in America, but Elya never finds him.

How do most adaptations differ from the original text of the story Frankenstein by Mary Shelley?
Luda [366]
It depends on what adaptations you're looking at but I'd say some significant differences across the board are the portrayals of the monster. In the books, the monster can speak eloquently and read as well while he mostly grunts and struggles with words in the movie adaptations.

Which excerpt contains a strict internal rhyme scheme?
Angelina_Jolie [31]

But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust spoke only (from "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe)

Internal rhyme is when two words rhyme in the same line. In this line from "The Raven" the words lonely and only rhyme. It is a strict internal rhyme scheme because there is the same rhythm and number of syllables from the start of the line to lonely as there is from just after lonely to only. Dickinson's line "The eyes beside had wrung them dry" has three words with the same long I sound (eyes, beside, dry) but there doesn't appear to be a strict pattern and they don't actually rhyme so this is alliteration. In Thomas's "Ceremony After a Fire Raid" the short i sound is also repeated but the words do not rhyme either.

What is the central idea of the Elizabeth and Hazel
Goryan [66]

Answer:

He recounts Elizabeth's struggle to overcome the trauma of her hate-filled school experience, and Hazel's long efforts to atone for a fateful, horrible mistake.

As they progress from apology to pardon to reconciliation and, remarkably, to friendship, the book follows the traumatic path of the two.
