Explanation: John Cabot was an Italian navigator and explorer, he moved to England in 1450 and was sent by Henry VII to sail and find a westward route to Japan. During his quest, he found North America. In Canada, he was able to find a rich fishing area.

He did not explore St. Lawrence River because Jacques Cartier was the one who did it.
