  • From the letter King Nzinga wrote, he claimed that the Men to the Portugal king gave merchants too much freedom. That these Merchants opened shops where they sold things that were not approved of in the Kongo kingdom.

  • In this same letter, he complained that the merchants were taking sons of the land and they were being sold. This shows the historical problem of slavery that was existent in Africa, where people were sold off and taken to foreign lands.
