We are given

(a, b) ---------------> (a, −b)

we can see that

x-values of both points are 'a'

which is same

while y-value of first =b

y-value of second =-b

so, y becomes as -y

and we know that

when a function is reflected about x-axis

then y becomes -y

Determine and state the coordinates of the center and the length of the radius of the
zmey [24]

we can see that the center is (-3, 3) and the radius is 9 units.

<h3 /><h3>How to find the center and radius of the circle?</h3>

The general circle equation, for a circle with a center (a, b) and radius R is given by:

(x - a)^2 + (y - b)^2 = R^2

Here we have the equation:

x^2 + y^2 + 6x = 6y + 63

Let's complete squares:

x^2 + y^2 + 6x - 6y =  63

(x^2 + 6x) + (y^2 - 6y) = 63

(x^2 + 2*3x) + (y^2 - 2*3y) = 63

Now we can add and subtract 9, (two times) so we get:

(x^2 + 2*3x + 9) - 9 + (x^2 - 2*3x + 9) - 9 = 63

(x + 3)^2 + (y - 3)^2 = 63 + 9 + 9 = 81 = 9^2

(x + 3)^2 + (y - 3)^2 = 9^2

Comparing with the general circle equation, we can see that the center is (-3, 3) and the radius is 9 units.

Find an equation of the tangent to the curve at the point corresponding to the given value of the parameter. x = cos(θ) + sin(4θ
dybincka [34]

The line tangent to the curve at (x(0),y(0)) has slope

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}\bigg|_{\theta=0}=\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm d\theta}\dfrac{\mathrm d\theta}{\mathrm dx}\bigg|_{\theta=0}=\dfrac{\cos\theta-4\sin4\theta}{-\sin\theta+4\cos4\theta}\bigg|_{\theta=0}=\dfrac14

Then the tangent line has equation

y-y(0)=\dfrac14(x-x(0))

y-1=\dfrac14(x-1)

\boxed{y=\dfrac{x+3}4}

How tall is the goal post if its shadow is 18ft. The height of the flagpole is 20 ft and its shadow is 8 ft.?
tamaranim1 [39]

You can set up an inequality to solve this. You can either do big to small --> \frac{x}{18} = \frac{20}{8} or small to big --> \frac{x}{18} = \frac{8}{20}. I'm going to be using big to small because I think it's a little easier.

\frac{20}{8} = \frac{x}{18}

Cross multiply and you will get:

360 = 8x

Isolate x:

x = \frac{360}{8}

x = \frac{90}{2}

x = 45

The goal post is 45 feet tall. Hope this helped. Good luck. : )
