Women's participation in post-conflict nation-building is an important ingredient in achieving an equitable, peaceful and more prosperous society, according to a RAND Corporation study released today.

While many policymakers and development agencies fear that pursuing a stronger role for women in nation-building “too soon” will lead to instability, RAND researchers say that the available information suggest otherwise.

A society that shows greater concern for the rights of the weaker strata of its society — including women — will be less likely to initiate violence, while economic and social development are strongly elevated when women enter the marketplace, according to the report from the RAND National Security Research Division.

“Gender equity and women's inclusion play a central role both as a litmus test and as an active variable shaping a more democratic, stabilized and developed society,” said Cheryl Benard, the study's lead author and a senior political scientist at RAND, a nonprofit research organization. “Incorporating women in the nation-building process as early on as possible will help make these improvements happen sooner.”

Select the sentence that uses the possessive case correctly.
Assoli18 [71]

Answer: A) Most cars' license plates are out-of-state.

Explanation: Since the word has an 's' at the end you just put the apostrophe after the word.

Example: The kids don't have work. But the kids' parents do.

Since kids is plural and it already has an 's' the apostrophe follows the 's'. But if the word 'kids' isn't plural it would be like this:

The kid doesn't have work. But the kid's parents do.

I hope I helped!! :))

Sandra was content reading a book on Friday nights.
garik1379 [7]
The correct answer is "The baby seemed content listening to the soothing music". Because in the given example and the correct answer, "content" is used as an adjective, meaning happy, whereas in the remaining examples it is used as a noun content, meaning capacity.

According to how the other half lives why did sinks stink in tenements
mestny [16]
Jacob Riis did not give away the explicit reason for the stench of the sink in the tenements. His only clue was the line "that all the tenants may have access", the reader would have to understand the living condition of the tenements for them to realize that the stench is the result of the over-populated tenement which lacked new plumbing.
