compare the themes. what do Antigone and "The Game" suggest about fate and chance? Are our futures determined by fate, by chance
lisov135 [29]

I believe chance because anyone can live as long as their body can keep them alive as long as they're in the right place at the right time, but we can't always know what that is. Anyone's fate is changed by the choices they make.

What do you think Alice means by saying Rufus "may as well have cut my Isaac’s ears off with his own hand"
ivolga24 [154]

Answer:

Alice made that statement because she blamed the character she was referring to for Isaac getting caught while trying to escape and having his ears cut off.

Explanation:

“Why didn’t you tell me?” she asked bitterly. “You could have said something, got me out of his room, his bed … Oh Lord, his bed! And he may as well have cut my Isaac’s ears off with his own hand.”

This is an excerpt from Kindred by Octavia E. Butler.

The book talks about a girl named Alice who fell in love with Isaac, a slave and tried to help him escape but he was caught and had his ears cut off.

Before Isaac tried to escape, he got into a fight with the character she is referring to and Isaac beat him up. So Alice believed he reported Isaac that's why he was caught and had his ears cut off, then sent to Mississippi.

Question 2 (1 point) "throw me down the stairs my hat"
jok3333 [9.3K]

The sentence is an example of an example of an unfortunately worded phrase.

A sentence is usually made up of a subject and an object

The subject is the person or item that the sentence is about. The object is the person or item that the action is being done to - the receiver of the action. According to convention, subject usually precedes the object.

In this question, the subject is "my" and the object is the "hat".

Thus, the correct order of the sentence is "throw my hats down the stairs"
