One direction got famous by going to the show X-Factor. They all were doing separate auditions and all of them weren’t going to make through the house auditions. Nicole (the judge) decided for the boys to be a group. They did better together they place 3rd in the show. Later on they made there own songs and they got very popular and that’s how they got famous
