Given y=log3(x+4) what is the domain

As you know, the domain is the values "x" can safely take on.

well, for a logarithmic expression, it can never have an expression of 0, namely in this case, x + 4 must never be 0, since such a logarithm doesn't exist.

now, x + 4 = 0 ---> x = -4.

thus if "x" ever becomes -4, we'd end up with log₃(-4+4), or log₃(0), which is a no dice.

so the domain is all values except -4.

There is a clear bias. It is important however to not look at how many women got promoted with respect to men but which proportion of each subset got promoted. In the man files, 21/24 got promoted; this is a very high percentage, equal to 87.5%. Nonetheless, regarding women, 14/24 got promoted, 58,3%, barely over half of them. Hence, we conclude that there is a significant bias that favors male workers.

Someone explain this to me
e-lub [12.9K]

Answer: a) y = f(x - 6)

              b) y = f(x) - 2

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

For transformations we use the following formula: y = a f(x - h) + k

  • a = vertical stretch
  • h = horizontal shift (positive = right, negative = left)
  • k = vertical stretch (positive = up, negative = down)

a) f(x) has a vertex at (-1, 1)

    M has a vertex at (5, 1)

    The vertex shifted 6 units to the right  → h = +6

Input h = +6 into the equation and disregard "a" and "k" since those didn't change.     ⇒ y = f(x - 6)

b) f(x) has a vertex at (-1, 1)

    N has a vertex at (-1, -1)

    The vertex shifted down 2 units  → k = -2

Input k = -2 into the equation and disregard "a" and "h" since those didn't change.     ⇒ y = f(x) - 2

Show that a vector
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

 u = |u|(cos∝+cosβ+cosγ)

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Explanation</u>

<u>Proof:-</u>

Given a vector  u = x₁ i + y₁j +z₁k

let O X, OY, O Z be the positive co-ordinate axes

P(x₁,y₁,z₁) be any point in the space

Let OP makes angles α,β,γ with co-ordinate axes OX , OY ,OZ .

The angle α,β,γ are known as direction angles and cosine of the angle

l =cosα , m= cosβ , n=cosγ

The perpendicular PA,PB,PC are drawn co-ordinate axes OX,OY,OZ respecctively

InΔOAP , ∠A =90° , cos∝ =\frac{x}{r}

                                 x₁ = rcos∝

InΔOBP , ∠B =90° , cosβ =\frac{y}{r}

                                 y₁ = rcosβ

InΔOCP , ∠C =90° , cosγ =\frac{z}{r}

                                z₁ = rcosγ

Given   u = x₁ i + y₁j +z₁k

      |u| = \sqrt{(x_{1})^{2} +(x_{2} )^{2} +(x_{3} )^{2}  }

Therefore  u = x₁ i + y₁j +z₁k

               u = |u|(cos∝+cosβ+cosγ)

What is the slope of this graph?<br><br> 4<br><br> 14 <br><br> −14 <br><br> −4
Strike441 [17]

Answer:

-4

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope of this graph is the gradient. As it is sloping downwards the gradient will be negative, so either -4 or -14.

The gradient can be found by using the equation gradient=rise/run

The line passes through (-2, 5) and (0,-3).

This means the run (x-direction) is  -2-0= -2   and the rise (y-direction)  is

5 - (-3) = 5+3 = 8

Therefore the gradient is equal to 8/-2 = -4
