Plastic waste refers to the accumulation of plastic objects which are not properly disposed in the environment.

  • Problems of plastic waste ranges from causing landfills to overflow, choking rivers, causing dirt to the community etc.

  • Plastic waste in America and Europe are best utilized because they are recycled into new plastic, therefore, not causing menace or pollution to the environment.

The ways of which Ghanaian university student can help tackle Ghana's plastic waste problem are:

  • Sensitization of the community: The student must take the responsibility of informing the public of the danger of reckless dumping of used plastic and tell how it can be utilized by recycling companies.

  • Location of plastic waste collector: Availability of the waste collectors will encourage the resident to dispose the waste rightly and subsequently will be used for recycling.

  • Heeding the legislative arm: Ghanian student can encourage the member of the assembly to pass a bill on proper disposal of plastic waste and state that defaulters will be duly punished.
