But he lost the Battle of Little Bighorn and his life when he was sent to bring the Sioux back to the reservations. They had left to hunt for food because they were going hungry. Custer arrived and was told to wait for backup but he underestimated the size of the Native Americans and fired the first shot. The Native Americans in turn annihilated his men and Custer lost and died
