In this way, the social support provided by protective factors, and positive self-concept can serve as protection against the effects of stressful experiences.

These factors must be built from childhood and adolescence to create resolute, resilient, and secure adults. One way to use protective factors to build high esteem and resilience in teens is through loving families, loving relationships, and a sense of meaning in life.
