Why was Edouard Manet considered the most controversial artist in Paris in the 1860s? What was revolutionary about the works of
exis [7]

Answer:

1. Manet was considered a controversial artist because of his way of portraying the real Parisian lifestyle in his paintings, and refusing to follow the classical technique that the art Academy demanded at that time.

2. The work of Monet and Manet were revolutionary because or their representation on impressionism in their painting, concentrating purely on the essence of colors and shapes than focusing on realism.

Explanation:

Edouard Manet was considered the father of modern art thanks to his flat painting skills, which gave him the chance to set a different standard of post-impressionism art. He was considered a controversial artist for his way of portraying the Parisian life. He was criticised for many paintings such as: Olympia, the railway, argenteuil and the boating. Most artist of the era went along with the classical types of paintings that focused on mythological stories or heroic figures. Monèt and his colleague Manet did several paintings for the Salon which was an art exhibition of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. This Academy decided what was acceptable or good at the time, so when artist like Manet and Monét tried to implement new techniques and tried to represent a tone of freshness in their canvas they were then considered a threat to the conservative community. Both men paved the way for modern artist who focused on form and light more than just common realism this is why they were considered the greatest and the most controversial at the moment.
