There has always been tension between the Indian and British people because of the British People's colonial rule in India from

1858 to 1947. In “By Any Other Name” the author used many examples of the tension between the two ethnicities. In this context the characters experienced internal conflict as they suffered from dual personality, segregation, and differences. Identify the different types of conflict in the memoire? How did the narrator evaluate discrimination as a social crisis? What do you think of multiculturalism as a main theme of the memoire?
PS. I hope you could just write the main points.. this would mean a lot.

The book presents internal conflicts, as characters struggle with their own thoughts while reflecting on how their cultures and nationalities are portrayed. In addition, the book also presents external conflicts, exposing cases of racism, xenophobia, and intolerance.

Multiculturalism, in this case, is a very well-established theme and shows how society needs to evolve to accept multiculturalism, which is something increasingly common, but which is still neglected.

We can reach this answer because:

  • "By Any Other Name" shows the story of two Indian children who need to attend an Anglo-Indian school, that is, a school with English and Indian children.
  • Despite the multiculturalism present in the environment, the school did not know how to deal with it correctly.
  • English culture was valued, while Indian culture was devalued.
  • Indian children were victims of constant xenophobia and stereotypes, to the point of having their honesty questioned.
  • The Indian children were separated from the English children, due to prejudice.
  • This created confusion in the minds of Indian children, who began to question their own culture and fight their own thoughts about it.

It is important to emphasize that internal conflicts are those that the characters have with their own thoughts, while external conflicts are those that the characters have with elements outside their minds, such as society, other characters, nature, and supernatural beings.

Romeo and Juliet
Len [333]

The tension is mounting  because the audience knows that Romeo is guilty of killing Tybalt and they know that the Prince has said that whoever is caught fighting will be killed. The tension is heightened by Lady Capulets plea for Romeo's death. "Romeo slew Tybalt. Romeo must not live." This is especially dramatic because it shows that the feud runs so deep that even the women are ruthless and vicious because of it. The tension is relieved slightly when the Prince and Lord Montague reasons that Romeo killed Tybalt who would have been killed anyway by the law.
