Describe a real life multiplication situation for which an estimate makes sense
Drupady [299]
If you are trying to create a garden of potted plants, you would find out how much soil each pot needs/holds and multiply that by how many pots you plan to use. then you would go to the store for potting soil, which let’s say came in smaller packs and you need to purchase multiple. use multiplication estimation to estimate how many bags you’d need.
I know this is a dumb example...sorry this is one I remember from my fourth grade math teacher ahah

Question 11 . 2 p Brent is considering buying a new circular track for his model train. He estimates that the model's circumfere
neonofarm [45]

Brent estimates that the model's circumference is about 3 times the measure of the circle's diameter, with this, he can estimate the area.

<h3>What is a circle? </h3>

A circle is the locus of a point, such that the distance from a fixed point (center) is always constant.

The circumference of a circle is given by:

Circumference = π * diameter

Brent estimates that the model's circumference is about 3 times the measure of the circle's diameter, with this, he can estimate the area.

Divide 12x 4 y 4 by 3x 2 y. A. 4x 6y 5 B. 4x 2y 3 C. 9x 6 D. 9x 2y 3
andrew-mc [135]

Answer:

\frac{12x^4y^4}{3x^2y}=4x^2y^3

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider an element a\neq 0

We know that \frac{a^m}{a^n}=a^{m-n}

Here, m and n are exponents and a is a base. Exponent refers to the no. of times a term is multiplied by itself. Another word for exponents is powers.

Other Properties of exponents:

a^m\times a^n=a^{m+n}\\a^0=1\\\left ( a^m \right )^n=a^{mn}

Here, we are required to divide 12x^4y^4 by 3x^2y.

Consider \frac{12x^4y^4}{3x^2y}

We will solve \frac{12}{3}\,,\,\frac{x^4}{x^2}\,,\,\frac{y^4}{y} separately.

Here,

\frac{12}{3}=4\\\frac{x^4}{x^2}=x^{4-2}=x^2\\\frac{y^4}{y}=y^3

So, \frac{12x^4y^4}{3x^2y}=4x^2y^3

the first term of a geometric progression is 12 and the second term is -6. Find the (i) the tenth term of the progression (ii) t
lesantik [10]

Step-by-step explanation:

a1=ar⁰=12 A2=ar¹=-6

a=12 ar=-6

12r=-6

r=-6/12

r=-1/2

a10=ar⁹

=12*(-1/2)⁹

=12*(-512)

=-3/128

S∞ = a1 / (1-r )

=12/(1-1/2)

=12*1/2

=6
