Answer:

The number of 20sen and 50sen are 40 and 30

Step-by-step explanation:

I. The clues we got are total price and total coins,

If 1RM = 100sen

Given b is 50sen and s is 20sen

So 2,300 = 50b + 20s   => {total price}

70 = b + s  => {total coins}

20* 70 = 20b + 20s  => {simulate}

II. Find b or s value by eliminate one of them

{total price} - {simulate}

2,300 - 1,400 = 50b - 20b + 20s - 20s

900 = 30b

b = 30

III. Find s value by replace b value in {total coins}

70 = 30 + s

40 = s

IV. Prove by replace b and s value in {total price}

2,300 = 50(30) + 20(40)

2,300 = 1500 + 800

2,300 = 2,300 true

That makes 40 coins of 20sen and 30 coins of 50sen.

Hope that help :)

Determine if events A and B are mutually exclusive.
gladu [14]

Answer:

A) Not mutually exclusive

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

P(A) = \frac{1}{4}

P(B) = \frac{3}{5}

P(A\ or\ B) = \frac{7}{10}

Required

Determine if they are mutually exclusive or not

Mutually exclusive are defined by:

P(A\ or\ B) = P(A) + P(B)

So, we have:

P(A\ or\ B) = \frac{1}{4} + \frac{3}{5}

Take LCM

P(A\ or\ B) = \frac{5+12}{20}

P(A\ or\ B) = \frac{17}{20}

By comparing:

P(A\ or\ B) = \frac{17}{20} ---- Calculated

P(A\ or\ B) = \frac{7}{10} ---- Given

We can conclude that A and B are not mutually exclusive because:

\frac{17}{20} \ne \frac{7}{10}

If a+b=9 and ab=18,find the value of a and b.
Blizzard [7]

Answer:

Given:

a + b = 9

=> a = 9 - b

Given:

a x b = 18

=> (9 - b) x b = 18

=> 9b - b^2 = 18

=> b^2 - 9b + 18 = 0

=> (b - 3)(b - 6) = 0

=> b = 3 => a = 6

=> b = 6 => a = 3

Hope this helps
