This was the time of the Industrial Revolution. The economic relationship between the north and the south in the early 1800s was that the south grew the majority of the crops and then it was sent to the industries in the north to be processed into material. Example cotton was grown in the south and sent to the north and turned into cloth.
While settlers traveled west along the Oregon Trail for a variety of reasons, most were motivated either by land or gold. Various land acts in Oregon provided free land to pioneers, while the start of the California Gold Rush in 1848 lured thousands more.
At the end of the Civil War, the communication system that the
railroad used to coordinate their complex flow of rail cars is through the
telegraph. This is used for transmitting messages with the use of a wire in
which is a way of making signals in means of breaking and making an electrical
connection.
The freedman's bureau distributing supplies
