Lucas deposits $250,000 into two investment accounts. Over a year, the first account

Answer:

On a first account the Lucas earns 3.6 percent interest it means on a $1000 Lucas earns $36 interest in a year.

\[\left( \frac{36}{1000} \right)=\frac{9}{250}\]

On second account the Lucas earns 2.1 percent interest it means on $1000 Lucas earns $21 interest in a year

\[\left( \frac{21}{1000} \right)\]

Step-by-step explanation:

• Simple interest is calculated with the following formula: S.I. = P × R × T, where P = Principal, R = Rate of Interest in % per annum, and T = The rate of interest is in percentage r% and is to be written as r/100.

• The total principal amount invested by Lucas is $250,000 in both the accounts.

• To find the investment in each account by Lucas . we have found the principal using the rate percent .

• On a first account the found principal is $250 and on the second account the found principal is $1000. Therefore the total principal is

& (250+1000)\to 250,000 \\             & 1250\to 250,000 \\  & 1\to 200 \\

Therefore actual principal of first account is :

& 1\to 200 \\  & 250\to \frac{250(200)}{1} \\ \[=50,000\]

The actual principal of second account is :

& 1\to 200 \\  & 1000\to 200(1000)/1 \\  & =20,0000 \\

• Hence in a first account Lucas invested \[\$=50,000\] and in a second account Lucas invested \[\$20,0000\]

$192,400 was deposited in the account that earns 2.1% interest and $57,600 was deposited  in the account that earns 3.6% interest

Interest earned in the account = $256,114 - $250,000 = $6114

This question would be solved using simultaneous equations

Two equations can be derived from the question

a + b = 250,000 equation 1

0.036a + 0.021b = $6,114 equation 2

Where :

a = amount deposited in the account that earns 3.6% in interest.

b = amount deposited in the account that earns 2.1% in interest.

Multiply equation 1 by 0.036

0.036a + 0.036b = 9000 equation 3

Subtract equation 2 from 3

2886 = 0.015b

Divide both sides of the equation by 0.015

b = 192,400

Substitute for b in equation 1

a + 192,400 = 250,000

a = 250,000 - 192,4000

a = 57,600

A box with a square base and closed top is required to have a volume of 27,000 cm3
julia-pushkina [17]

Answer:

h=30cm

Base sides, x=30cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the dimension of the sides and h the dimension of height;

V=x^2h

#Material used is directly proportional to surface area. Minimizing surface area will minimize the amount of material used.

Area=2x^2+4xh

Find area as a function of x:

V=x^2h=27000\\\\h=\frac{27000}{x^2}\\\\Area=2x^2+4x(\frac{27000}{x^2})\\\\=2x^2+\frac{108000}{x}

To minimize Area, we find the first derivative of Area:

A=2x^2+\frac{108000}{x}\\\\A\prime=4x+\frac{108000}{x^2}=0\\\\\frac{4x^3-108000}{x^2}=0\\\\4x^3=108000\\\\x=30

#find the second derivative to verify the minimum:

A\prime=4x+\frac{108000}{x^2}\\A\prime\prime=4x+\frac{108000}{x^3}=124, x=30

Substitute x in the volume equation to find h:

h=\frac{27000}{x^2}\\\\=\frac{27000}{30^2}\\\\h=30

Hence, the dimensions of the box that minimize the amount of material used h=30cm and x=30cm

Ivan has 15 yd of green felt and 12 yd of blue felt to make 3 quilt if I have I even uses the same total numbers of each of yd f
laiz [17]

Answer:

9 yards of each quilt.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length of each quilt be 'x'.

Given:

Length of green felt = 15 yards

Length of blue felt = 12 yards

Total number of quilts = 3

Total length of all the quilts in terms of 'x' is given as:

Total\ length=x+x+x=3x ----(1)

Total length is also equal to the sum of the lengths of green and blue felts. So,

Total\ length=15+12=27--- (2)

Now, equating equations (1) and (2), we get:

3x=27\\\\x=\frac{27}{3}\\\\x=9

Therefore, the length of each quilt is 9 yards.

Solve the equation 3tan(2x+15°)=4 for 0°is less than equal to x and 180° is greater than equal to x.
Vlada [557]

Answer:

3tan(2x+15)=4\\or, \frac{tan2x+tan15}{1-tan2x.tan15} =\frac{4}{3}\\or, 3tan2x+3tan15=4-4tan2x.tan15 \\or, 3tan2x+4tan2x.tan15=4-3tan15\\or, tan2x(3+4tan15) = 4-3tan15\\or, tan2x = \frac{4-3tan15}{3+4tan15}\\or, 2x =tan^{-1}(\frac{4-3tan15}{3+4tan15})\\or, x = \frac{tan^{-1}(\frac{4-3tan15}{3+4tan15})}{2} = 19.06505118 (approximate)\\Note: tan30 = \frac{2tan15}{1-tan^{2}15}\\or, \frac{1}{\sqrt{3} } =   \frac{2tan15}{1-tan^{2}15}\\or, 1-tan^{2}15 = 2\sqrt{3}tan15\\or, tan^{2}15+2\sqrt{3}tan15-1=0\\Solve~using~the~quadratic~formula~to~get~tan15^o=2-\sqrt{3}.
