The statement that describes an environmental consequence of sustainable land use is ; If commons are protected environmental issues could move to other areas ( D )

Sustainable land use act ensure the appropriate distribution of land resources such as land, water and other biodiversity in the environment, among the competing bodies in the environment. when land use is restricted/protected from indiscriminate usage the level of land pollution will be reduced as well which is a positive effect and not a consequence. other options listed are not environmental consequences because they do not impact the environment negatively

The consequence ( negative effect ) of sustainable land use is that the environmental issues prevented by this act could be moved to other areas that are not protected.

Hence we can conclude that the environmental consequence of sustainable land use is  If commons are protected environmental issues could move to other areas.

If there is too little ACTH produced by the pituitary glad, would levels of cortisol be too high or too low? Explain your answer
Tanzania [10]

<u>Answer:</u>

<em>If there is too little ACTH produced by the pituitary gland the level of cortisol produced would be less. </em>

<u>Explanation:</u>

Addison’s disease is a primary adrenal deficiency and n people with this disease the <em>pituitary gland produces very little adrenocoticotrophic hormone generally called ACTH. </em>

Production of cortisol depends on the levels of ACTH produced by the pituitary. Cortisol is a steroid hormone produced by the adrenal gland.  <em>Cortisol maintains the blood pressure and regulates the levels of glucose and protein. </em>

When the level of ACTH goes down the level of cortisol also goes down. People with <em>addison’s disease show symptoms like weight loss, abdominal pain etc. </em>

Answer

#1. A reduction in habitat for arctic seals will reduce the population of arctic seals. This will reduce the capture efficiency for killer whales preying on arctic seals because there will be fewer to capture. A reduction in habitat for arctic seals will lower the carrying capacity for arctic seals because there is less habitat. A reduction in arctic seals, the food for killer whales, will reduce the carrying capacity for killer whales, unless there is a substitute source of food.

#2. If there is another source of food for killer whales, the population of killer whales will probably remain the same, if they were at their carrying capacity and their habitat remains the same. If there is another source of food for killer whales, the population of arctic seals will still decrease, because the habitat for arctic seals has decreased, and habitat is independent of predator population.

#3. There are many limitations on any simulation. The computer only uses the parameters in the program, so changes in ocean temperature, weather patterns, salinity changes, food supply, habitat, interaction with other species and presence of plants and zooplankton are not considered. All of those can change and change the results.

Antibodies are produced when the body is exposed to
Yuri [45]

Antibodies are produced when the body is exposed to a pathogen. Antibody production is a function of the specific immunity arm of the immune system.

During the first encounter with a  pathogen, antibody production against that pathogen is  a  bit slow and not very vigorous. However, memory of that pathogen is kept in memory cell which are a type of lymphocyte.

On a second encounter with the same type of pathogen, the immune system specifically remembers the pathogen and the response this time round is faster,  very vigorous, specific and  very effective.

Vaccines follow this principle, making good use of immune memory.

Which of these species typically has a mortality rate that remains fairly constant over an individual's life span? which of thes
svetlana [45]
The correct option is robin. Scientists usually draw survivorship curve to determine the pattern of mortality and survival in different species. The graph usually show three basic patterns, some species produce a lot of offspring but only a few survive to the stage of active reproduction, some produce a small number of offspring but a large number of them survive to adulthood while the rest of the species are intermediate and have a fairly constant rate of mortality and survival. Robin falls into this last group.
