The relationship between Scout and Atticus is a close one and they cherish each other's company.

Scout told Atticus that he didn't feel like going to school anymore. He mentioned the fact that Atticus too had been staying at home while his uncle was teaching him

Atticus cared about his friend and told him that he should go to school. This showed that they had a close relationship and it further showed that they wanted the best for each other.

Atticus believed in the importance of education to an individual and Atticus wasn't going to let anything stop his friend from achieving his goals.
