• The value for f(0) is -7
  • The value of x for which f(x) = 0 is 3.5
  • The answer in part a shows that the y-intercept of graph f(x) is at (0, -7) while part (b) shows that the x-intercept of the graph f(x) is at (3.5, 0)

Given the function f(x) = 2x - 7

a) To compute f(0), we will simply substitute x = 0 into the given expression as shown;

f(0) = 2(0) - 7

f(0) = 0 - 7

f(0) = -7

Hence the value for f(0) is -7

b) For f(x) = 0

Substitute f(x) = 0 in the expression as shown;

0 = 2x - 7

-2x = -7

x = 7/2

x = 3.5

Hence the value of x for which f(x) = 0 is 3.5

c) The answer in part a shows that the y-intercept of graph f(x) is at (0, -7) while part (b) shows that the x-intercept of the graph f(x) is at (3.5, 0)

First, look at the whole number if it is 12, it will go near the 1 on the number line, next look at the fraction,
if its 1/2 change it to be 2/4. Next count the lines in between the number. There are 4 lines. If it is 3/4, count 3 lines and put the fraction there. So 41/4 would be the 4 and 1 line next to it.

Find the equation of the line that is parallel to x=5y-8 and pass through (6, -5) in slope intercept form
DochEvi [55]

Answer:

y=1/5x-31/5 (or y=0.2x-6.2 in decimals)

Step-by-step explanation:

x=5y-8     (original equation)

x+8=5y (Addition Property of Equality)

1/5x+8/5=y (Division Property of Equality, slope of original equation is 1/5)

y-y1=m(x-x1)    (point-slope formula)

y-(-5))=1/5(x-(6)) (plug in the slope that was found earlier and the point given in the question)

y+5=1/5(x-6)

y+5=1/5x-6/5   (Distributive Property of Multiplication)   Note:  5 = 25/5

y=1/5x-31/5 (Subtraction Property of Equality, and there's your answer)

y=0.2x-6.2 (This is the same answer, but written with decimals)
