Sam, Josh, Megan, Danielle, and Isaac are all studying an invasive plant along the Ankh-Morpork river basin and natural areas. T

his plant, the Venezuelan Salt berry, can grow into a tree up to 10 meters high with a total shade cover many times this height. When one stem is cut, many more will sprout beneath the cut line to produce a tangled web of new branches. The entire tree must be cut at soil level and treated with special herbicides to prevent regrowth. The berries are small, less than 7mm in diameter, and bright red when ripe. They tend to grow in large clusters at the terminal end of branches. Each of our young scientists are testing a different hypothesis to prove how the Venezuelan Salt berry is spreading so quickly along the muddy banks of the river and into the interior. Sam observed that the most abundant species of bird, a common lark, quite enjoys the berries and eats voraciously from the clusters throughout the summer months. Josh observed that when hiking through the wooded areas, there are many areas of bear scat that are red from the abundance of berries. Megan heard people say that bees make a mighty fine honey and local people have been planting them in orchards for their apiaries. Danielle read a newspaper article which mentioned the tree was brought over from the Rim as an ornamental plant which escaped a botanical garden. Isaac believes that wind carries the berries, after they ripen and dry out on branches, across great distances in the windy, dry season. Explain how Megan would approach her observation with the scientific method to determine if she was right in her thoughts. Be details, label the steps, and provide a reasonable experiment she could use to test a rational hypothesis.

To test the saying, Megan has to use steps of scientific method.

The first thing that the Megan should do is to make a hypothesis that ''bees makes a fine honey from berry orchid.'' Then he has to do experiment by placing the apiaries in the berry orchids in order to find out his hypothesis. After sometime, Megan has to collect the data and draw the conclusion in the light of her observation in order to find out that the honey bees made honey or not so in this way the Megan used steps of scientific method in order to test their hypothesis.

The outer periphery of the inter-vertebral disk is composed of strong fibrous tissue called the Annulus fibrosus. This is a tough circular exterior of the inter-vertebral disc that surrounds the soft inner core, the nucleus pulposus. The outer portion is composed of a ring of ligament fibers that encases the inner core of the disc and securely connects the spinal vertebrae above and below the disc.

What is the connection between virus prevalence and animal populations?
ch4aika [34]

Rinderpest disease is caused by a virus that affects hoofed animals, including cattle and wildebeest. In the 1950s, a cattle vaccination program was implemented to eradicate the disease in the Serengeti, and this led to dramatic changes in the populations of wildebeest and other species. The figure shows the number of wildebeest in the Serengeti ecosystem (shaded circles, left y-axis) and the prevalence (i.e., percentage) of individuals infected by rinderpest disease (unshaded squares and triangles, right y-axis) from 1958 to 2003.

You are a molecule of water. Choose a starting
olya-2409 [2.1K]

Answer:

In water cycle, water evaporates from the sea and oceans in the form of water vapors due to the radiation of the sun. This evaporation in the ocean is the starting point of water cycle.

Explanation:

Water cycle is also called hydrological cycle. In this cycle , water evaporates from water bodies such as rivers, seas, ponds and oceans etc. Water is also evaporated from plant bodies in the process of both evaporation and transpiration. This water moves in the form of vapors and forms clouds. These clouds moves to the land and fall on the earth surface in the form of rainfall and snowfall. From there, this water moves to the oceans through lakes and rivers and repeat the cycle again.

Living cells depend on a precise balance of water and solutes. which term describes the control of the gain or loss of water and
Brums [2.3K]
The term in question is referred to as osmoregulation.
Since water and its soluted metabolites are key to the survival and normal function of the cell, there are many membrane proteins that regulate the exchange of water, ions and other osmolites between the cell and its surroundings.
