Looking at the advice Daedalus gives Icarus in lines 41 - 47, these lines might suggest that the Greeks valued behavior that was
Lady_Fox [76]

Since the advice given by Daedalus is for Icarus to be careful, it might suggest the Greeks valued behavior that was moderate and controlled.

Who are Daedalus and Icarus?

Daedalus and Icarus are both mythological characters. Daedalus is an inventor and, to escape a labyrinth where there is a Minotaur, he creates pairs of wax wings for himself and his son Icarus. Before the two fly away, Daedalus gives Icarus some advice.

He tell Icaurs to no fly too close to the sun, because that might be dangerous. If we analyze such piece of advice, we will see that the Greeks most likely values self-discipline, self-control, moderation. Instead of taking risks that could endanger someone's life, it is better to play it safe.

As we know, Icarus does not keep his father's advice in mind. He flies too close to the sun, melting his wings in the process. Icarus falls into the ocean and dies.
