Answer the 1. Discuss briefly the causes, and consequences of climate change and how can we respond to the changing climate in t
BARSIC [14]

The causes of the climate change of Ethiopia are rapid deforestation, rapid population growth and agricultural expansions, air pollution etc. The consequences of climate change of Ethiopia are increase in the average temperature and the level of precipitation.

What is meant by climate change?

Climate change is a long-term shift in global or regional climate patterns. Often climate change refers specifically to the rise in global temperatures from the mid-20th century to present. It results in the unexpected weather patterns and the change in the same making it quite unpredictable. It has been connected with other damaging weather events such as more frequent and more intense hurricanes, floods, downpours, and winter storms.

What are the Causes of Climate Change?

More than 85 percent of emissions are due to agriculture and deforestation, while the power, transport, industrial and building sectors contribute 3 percent each. Globally, Ethiopia accounts for less than 0.1 percent of emissions, yet it is already experiencing the adverse effects of climate change. The major reasons or the causes of climate change in Ethiopia is rapid deforestation, rapid population growth and agricultural expansions, along with air pollution etc.

What are the Consequences of Climate Change?

Climate change is expected to increase heatwaves, droughts, flooding, and sea levels around the world, and also cause important health risks in Ethiopia. Ethiopia is vulnerable to many of the effects of climate change, including increases in average temperature and changes in precipitation.

Discuss in detail about the population characteristics of Ethiopia?

According to the 2022 revision of the World Population Prospects, the total population was 120,283,026 in 2021, compared to 18,434,000 in 1950. The proportion of children below the age of 15 in 2010 was 41.5%, 55.8% was between 15 and 65 years of age, while 3.3% was 65 years or older. The average age was 25.1.
