Answer:

The Gadsden Purchase gave the United States land to build a railroad.

Explanation:

The United States was willing to pay more money for the Gadsden Purchase than for the Mexican Cession because this purchase allowed them to have more land in order to build the railroad. Moreover, it allowed the United States to continue its plans of conquering all of North America. The treaty was ratified on April 25, 1854, and it purchased 29,670 square miles of land, paying Mexico $10 million.

How did the monroe doctrine, social darwinism, imperialism, and manifest destiny played a role in shaping american foreign polic
Pachacha [2.7K]
The Monroe doctrine was manifested through the idea that no foreign powers from Europe should invade any American Countries, which was seen when the US supported any colony that wanted to free itself from its colonizer. Imperialism was important because countries started spreading and colonizing Africa and Asia and the US even participated with its Manifest Destiny and the Philippine campaign. Social Darwinism was seen in the time of the great depression before FDR became president because only the strongest members of the society would survive while the poor would just be abandoned.

Why did the colonists first accept and then later reject indirect taxes such as duties on trade
Pepsi [2]
Initially, the colonists accepted these taxes because they were lightly enforced by the government. These taxes were also light themselves, and were not a harsh payment to make for imports. When the British government did enforce these light duties and eventually added more direct taxes, the colonists feared that by accepting these, they would lose their property and political rights to the British. In the end, the colonists opposed all taxes imposed on them by the government.
