The answer should be y=x-2. To solve other questions like these, find the y-intercept on the y-axis and use rise over run to count the slope between the points. Here it rises 3 and runs 3, simplifying to one. The y-axis crosses at -2. Plug this into y=mx+b and you get y=x-2

True [87]
Hi I did a plug and play because I don’t know how else to do it.
So I started adding numbers till the tarts equal 20 and then the cherries in the tarts equals 89.

11tarts times* 5cherries is 55 black cherries
7tarts times * 4 cherries is 28 red cherries
2tarts Times* 3 cherries is 6 white cherries
20 tarts and 89 cherries

So with the information☝️in the constraints that makes the statement true above... There are 9 more black tarts on tray than white.

This graph represents a quadratic function. What is the function’s equation written in factored form and in vertex form?
AnnZ [28]

Answer:

\textsf{Factored form}: \quad f(x)=2x(x-4)

\textsf{Vertex form}: \quad f(x)=2(x-2)^2-8

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Factored form of a quadratic function</u>

f(x)=a(x-p)(x-q)

where:

  • p and q are the x-intercepts
  • a is some constant

Given x-intercepts:

  • (0, 0)
  • (4, 0)

Therefore:

\implies f(x)=a(x-0)(x-4)

\implies f(x)=ax(x-4)

To find a, substitute the given vertex (2, -8) into the equation and solve for a:

\implies 2a(2-4)=-8

\implies -4a=-8

\implies a=2

Therefore, the function's equation in factored form is:

f(x)=2x(x-4)

<u>Vertex form of a quadratic equation</u>

<u />f(x)=a(x-h)^2+k

where:

  • (h, k) is the vertex
  • a is some constant

Given:

  • vertex = (2, -8)

Therefore:

\implies f(x)=a(x-2)^2-8

To find the constant a, substitute one of the x-intercepts into the equation and solve for a:

\implies a(0-2)^2-8=0

\implies 4a-8=0

\implies a=2

Therefore, the function's equation in vertex form is:

f(x)=2(x-2)^2-8

If theta lies in the quadrant IV. What can be the value of cos theta ?
trapecia [35]
Cos(theta) has positive values in quadrants I and IV and it has negative value in quadrants II and III.  To know that you don't have to remember this but to imagine xy coordinate system. In it you draw a circle around the center.

Once you do that for any given angle you project the point which represents crossing of side that defines angle and circle. Now project that dot on x-axis. If projection is on positive side of x-axis, cos of that angle is positive and if it is on negative side it is negative.

The constants a, c, and d are positive. Solve the inequality for x.
lapo4ka [179]
It would be C. because you divide a by c and subtract d from it.
