When did Napoleon crown himself Emperor of France? Napoleon crowned himself Emperor of France on May the 18th, 1804. His ceremony, though was on December 2, 1804.

Why did he do it? He did it to ensure he had power against Rome and his enemies, symbolizing that he was strong and powerful and that he would not be controlled by anyone else other than himself. He showed something very important by being a very powerful ruler of France and telling others to be scared and intimidated by him.

What was his main objective? Napoleon's hugest motive was to construct democracy in France. He wanted to fix the economy and the government to guarantee a strong foundation between his nation. To prepare his country against warfare.  

What did he achieve? From 1799 until 1804, Napoleon served as France's main diplomat. Napoleon changed the French education system at the time by developing a single code (the Napoleonic Code) and putting together the Concordat of 1801. This also sparked the beginning of the Napoleonic Wars.
