What does this piece of dialogue reveal about Zaroff’s character?
vesna_86 [32]

The piece of dialogue from "The Most Dangerous Game" reveals that Zaroff feels he is entitled to practice his cruel sport, as stated in option A.

Who is Zaroff?

In the short story "The Most Dangerous Game," General Zaroff is the antagonist. He owns an island, where he practices quite a cruel sport: he hunts other men as if they were animals.

Zaroff justifies his actions in the piece of dialogue we are analyzing here. The general claims he can do what he does because he is strong. He sees the world as divided into strong and weak, and the weak exist just to be used by the strong in whatever manner pleases them.

In other words, Zaroff feels entitled to his cruel sport. He feels no regret or guilt for killing other people. As a matter of fact, he sees them as inferior, as worse than some animals.

With the information above in mind, we can choose option A as the correct answer.

The missing piece of dialogue is the following:

"Life is for the strong, to be lived by the strong, and, if needs be, taken by the strong. The weak of the world were put here to give the strong pleasure. I am strong. Why should I not use my gift? If I wish to hunt, why should I not? I hunt the scυm of the earth—sailors from tramp ships—lascars, blacks, Chinese, whites, mοngrels—a thoroughbred horse or hound is worth more than a score of them."

Explains what you think the central idea of Shakespeare's Sonnet 94 ?

The number ninety-four sonnet that the Bard penned is titled "Sonnet 94," popularly known as "They that have power to hurt, and will do none." The first 126 sonnets in this collection are part of Shakespeare's well-known Fair Youth cycle. These poems are all somehow addressed to a young, attractive man. There have been many theories regarding who this young man might be, but no one identification has ever been established.

In this particular sonnet, the speaker expresses feelings regarding youth that are a little more unfavorable than in previous ones. Through an elaborate metaphor, he is wishing the youth's comfort of loss rather than showing a readiness to live and die for them.
