Why do you think segregation was widespread in the South and prohibited in the North?
OLEGan [10]

Answer:

Segregation was widespread in the North.

Explanation:

During the Great Migration, a period between 1916 and 1970, six million African Americans left the South. Huge numbers moved northeast and reported discrimination and segregation similar to what they had experienced in the South.

As late as the 1940s, it was still possible to find “Whites Only” signs on businesses in the North. Segregated schools and neighborhoods existed, and even after World War II, Black activists reported hostile reactions when Black people attempted to move into white neighborhoods.

Based on this document, do you think John Brown was a “misguided fanatic”? Why or why not?
elena55 [62]
There's no document provided, I'll answer to the best of my knowledge
The abolitionist John Brown attempted to garner attention and do his part to abolish slavery by murdering three individuals who supported slavery, and later tried to host an armed uprising where he would lead slaves to raid a federal army in Harper's Ferry. The attack was unsuccessful, and he was later executed. His actions were radical, and in my opinion very misguided and would only lead to more violence.

That is my take on it, though I recommend you get your own opinion because that is a very opinionated topic.
