What judeo-christian and greco-roman values and beliefs support a democratic system?
jenyasd209 [6]

One of the main qualities for Greeks was justice, but then again this had a much wider meaning than it does in English. It meant also treating people justly and justifiably. In Greco-Roman law the defendant had the right to guard himself, although deprived of money he was left defending himself. The Greek city states could be oligarchies or a division of the army, or a restricted democracy. Rome started as a kingdom and then turn into a republic – in the first place, aristocratic only but then merchants got voted, and after much widespread anxiety the people were embodied by the Tribune. Furthermore, any Roman citizen could vote, a major concern at that period.

What were the state governments like after the Revolutionary War?
DochEvi [55]

The correct answer is A) They had differing ideas about a powerful national government.

After the Revolutionary War, states were consistently worried about the power of the national (central) government. Considering that one of the biggest reasons for breaking away from England was a tyrannical central government, helps to understand why there were differing ideas about the structure of the American govenrment when the US became independent.

This is why the United States, under the Articles of Confederation, had a small and weak central government. Some states liked this while other states felt that this central govenrment was too weak to function effectively.

Henry Clay was known for his skill in what?
scoray [572]
Henry Clay was known for his skill in negotiation. Clay himself is oftentimes referred to as "The Great Negotiator" for his skill in bringing both sides together in Congress to pass laws. The Missouri Compromise was one of his crowning achievements wherein Missouri was to enter the Union as a slave state; however, Northerners felt that would tip the balance in Congress. Clay and others negotiated an outcome where Massachusetts would give up what is now Maine, which would then be made a free state in the North.
