The setting changes because at the begining he lives with the family that ownes him, but since the novel tells the adventures of Robot Andrew during two hundred years, Andrew changes his locations. During those years he gradually became medically human. The story in general questions what really makes us human and it tells how much someone is willing to do to achieve their goals. At the end of the story, Andrew gets himself declared legally human and on the date of his death it is said it was of "natural death" this making him the oldest human being that ever lived.
