Answer:

In water or acids, the metals trade places with hydrogen. The hydrogen escapes as a gas, and metal atoms, no longer attached to the object from which they came, dissolve in solution.

Electrons are negatively charged. acids are positively charged. when an acid in contact with a metal, the acid steals free electrons away. That loosens the bonds holding metal atoms in place, so the metal dissolves.
