What is the most common type of collision between cars and motorcycles

Biology

The most common type of collision between cars and motorcycles is inelastic collision since there is loss in kinetic energy and both objects tend to move together for a short time after the collision.

A collision between two objects can be elastic or inelastic.

In elastic collision, after the impact or collision, the two objects move away from each other with different velocities. There is no loss in kinetic energy for this type of collision.

Example of elastic collision;

  • rebounding of tennis ball from a wall

Inelastic collision occurs when the two objects move together with a common velocity after the collision. It involves the loss in kinetic energy.

Example of inelastic collision;

  • a dropped ball in a clay

Thus, we can conclude that the most common type of collision between cars and motorcycles is inelastic collision since there is loss in kinetic energy and both objects tend to move together for a short time after the collision.
