The progressives tried to help children by limitng maximum hours of labor and in establishing a minimum age for children to be allowed to work.
There were also mandatory laws in different states for children to attend school.
The Progressives believe that government should take an active participation to solve the problems in a society like poverty, education, woman and children rights, job opportunities and best conditions for living.
The term Cold War means a passive aggressive like a war fought between the world's two superpowers: The Soviet Union and the United States. It's considered passive aggressive as neither opponents launched physical attacks or did true harm to the opposing. Rather, both sides competed in things such as science and academics within their nation.

If Germany and Italy were unified, they'd be more powerful. Austria wanted to keep them separate, because when they weren't unified, they were weaker, allowing Austria to better control/intimidate them.
