The disease killed many people, such as farmers. With the farmers dying, there were less of them to farmland, and as such less food was grown. In order to be safe, some people also tried to flee from it, so some went to cities to escape it. The manor systems of farms fell apart. Also, to escape from the plague, some people would leave towns that had cases of it, so some towns were completely deserted.
