Should seem pretty obvious but the traders gained goods from their trade which is a benefit and slaves being slaves, suffered.

The Soviet Union was very powerful for most of the 20th century. From political to military and economic strength.But the economy of the Soviet Union would eventually collapse, due to certain reforms to decentralise the economy.

The Soviet Union's economy was controlled totally by the government. The communist party coordinated the planning of production, distribution and institution of regulations and economic targets. The economy had a rapid growth at first but as the economy became increasingly complex, the average GNP growth started slowing.

Reforms like the sovnarkhoz, implemented in the late 1950s attempted to decentralise economic control. Restructuring reforms called the porestroika were also implemented but these could not compete at the global stage and therefore failed.

Moreover, a stable economy improves lifestyle helping the population to choose professional careers thus focusing on different aspects but not making children.

On the other hand, it is important to mention that although the population in developed countries might be declining, the death rate is declining as well. As above mentioned, the lifestyle can be high and the aspects as shelter and a living space makes people healthier. Along with the economical growth comes the technological and health care advancement which greatly help the population of the developed countries to have easier and more affordable access to medical treatment making date rates lower.
