brought more settlers and it disturbed the natural habitat for animals like buffalo who need to migrate. also some native american populations migrated and it also cut into these areas creating dividing lines.

At the time it was  already obvious that the Allies would win and it was only a matter of time till Japan surrenders. However, the Japanese were not ready to surrender, and the only other alternative that the Allies had was to lauch a land attach, which would result in even more casualties.
