Alik [6]

Truthful request is the theme from the quit India speeches. Quit India campaign was a national protest movement based on “Satyagraha” that called for an end to British colonial rule in India and the establishment of Indian sovereignty through nonviolent resistance and peaceful violation of laws. In 1942, in a fiery speech in Mumbai, Mahatma Gandhi gave a 'do or die' call to the people of India in a final push to make the British quit.

Many claim that the Quit India speech by Gandhi was a Civil Disobedience Movement that was a huge launch for independence. Throughout Gandhi's speech he requested the withdrawal of British rule from India through mass nonviolent protest asking desperately for the freedom for the Indian People.

What is an extended metaphor in anne bradstreet's upon a burning house?
d1i1m1o1n [39]

I don't remember anything about an "extended metaphor," but the poem's main focus is to remind herself that while she loves the earthly comforts of her house and all her material things... it is important to not over-love them and instead think of all the spiritual rewards that are awaiting her in heaven.

VMariaS [17]

In chapter 40, Sal receives a gift chicken from Ben. Chickens are Sal's favorite animal. However, this is not the only thing that is interesting about the chicken. The name of the chicken is Blackberry, which is interesting for two reasons. The first one is that blackberries remind Sal of her mother, and the feeling of fondness and sweetness associated with her. The irony, however, is that the chicken also reminds her of kissing, based on the story of the girl who claimed that kissing tasted like chicken. When Sal kissed a tree, she also felt a trace of blackberry, which reminded her of her mother.
