This sample letter shows how an interest group can encourage citizens to take action. Dear Senator, I am writing to urge you to oppose Senate Bill 375. This bill removes a ban on importing foreign species of plants that are not native to the United States. If this policy is carried out, it could harm the environment. We know that foreign plant species can have a negative effect on our environment. They have the potential to force native species closer to endangered status. Please oppose this bill and keep the ban in place.
