sks, lost in our workday routines, when the fire alarm sprang to life. We jumped in our seats, but seated we stayed. One by one, we called to each other across the cubicle tops, “Do we have a drill?” “Are they testing the system?” “Should we go outside?” Five minutes later, the fire alarm still beeping, we casually grabbed our purses and our mp3 players, our sunglasses and our key fobs, and strolled out the back door. What conclusion can you draw about Marcy’s workplace given the evidence?A.The building’s managers were testing the fire alarms.B.The workers failed to follow proper fire safety procedures.C.The workers had too much work to do to pay attention to fire safety procedures.D.The employees where Marcy works have had no training in fire safety procedures.

Describe how Sumer met the three criteria of a civilization. Use specific examples.
viktelen [127]
<span>History begins at Sumer. It was probably the oldest civilization in the world, beginning in 3500 B.C. Writing begins there as well as agriculture. Their writing system is known as "cuneiform". These were made up of wedge-shaped symbols carved into wet clay tablets and then baked. Thousands of these clay tablets still survive.

They provide information about Sumerian politics, literature, economy, law, and religion.
Writing most likely began as a way of keeping records and recording facts. Towns first developed in Sumer about 3500 B.C. The Sumerians were also great craftsmen and traders.
