If there are 5 times as many cars as trucks and a total of 30 cars and trucks together how many trucks ?
chubhunter [2.5K]
Let t be the amount of trucks.
Thus 5t is the amount of cars.

t + 5t = 30
6t = 30
t = 30/6
t = 5

Therefore, there are 5 trucks

What is the equation of the line, in point-slope form, that goes through (-2,-1) and is perpendicular to y=5x+3?
Lemur [1.5K]

The correct answer is B. y + 1 = -1/5 (x + 2)

I got B by putting the numbers in point-slope form which is y - y1 = m ( x - x1 ) so I got:     y + 1 = m ( x + 2 )

Then to find m(the slope) I knew if the slope was 5 it would be parallel to y=5x+3 so therefore -1/5 would be perpendicular to the line y=5x=3.

Hope that helps!!
