These paragraphs explain why we can see colors other than green, red, and blue―even though the cones in our eyes are sensitive t

o just those three colors. Since you have just three types of color detectors in your eyes, it would make sense that the only colors you see would be red, green, and blue. But suppose you're looking at a yellow object. How would your eyes detect a color that isn't an exact match to one of the cones? In this case, the different wavelengths of light for both red and green are reflected into your eyes. The red and green cones send signals of varying strengths to your brain, depending on how excited they are by the different wavelengths. For example, the red cones would be very triggered because more red light is reflected from a yellow object. The green cones would also be triggered, but not as much as the red cones. This triggering of the three different cones to varying degrees is how you see all the different colors. How does this passage of text help readers understand its central idea?
A: It defines key terms.
B: It tells a story.
C: It provides an example.

Answer:

Dear Jane, I was delighted to read your letter last week. It's always a pleasure to receive the latest news and to hear that you and your family had a great summer. We spent last week at the beach and had so much fun on the sand and in the water exploring the coast we weren't prepared for the rains that came at the end of the vacation. The best parts of the trip were the opportunities to sightsee and relax. My kids are back in school to. I find there are less things to worry about now that the kids are at school all day. There is plenty of fun things to do in the summer, but by August, I've run out of ideas. I've excepted the fact that we'll have to think up brand-new activities next summer; hoping to round up some creative ideas soon.

Is a column similar to a stalactite and stalagmite
Aloiza [94]

I guess a stalactite and a stalagmite could be referenced to a column. Although, only some could be considered column-like.

Stalactites hang from the ceiling and only on occasion do they ever reach the ground. I, myself have toured some caves and have witnessed stalactites reaching the ground, so in that way they could be referenced to a column. But the majority of them, that don't reach the ground, aren't very column-like.

Same goes with stalagmites, but these protrude from the ground, rather than hanging from the ceiling. I've never personally seen a stalagmite that has reached the ceiling of a cave and resembled a column. But I wouldn't doubt that there are a few out there.

So basically in conclusion, the majority of stalagmites and stalactites are not  similar to columns. But the few that can go to cave floor to ceiling can resemble a column.

Hope this helps! Stay safe and stay healty! :3
