History

According to historical records, the populist movement was considered a reaction to the second industrial revolution because it tackled the sociopolitical and economic challenges of that era.

The second industrial revolution was characterized by:

 • railroad construction and ownership by privates,
 • mass production of different products, particularly iron and steel,
 • electrical energy generation, amongst others.

The populist movement reacted to these new challenges and opportunities because many of the second industrial revolutions were initiated by private individuals whose motives were to earn profits through their investments.

The drive for profits in the second industrial revolution leads to the rise of capitalism in which the populist movement is against.

For instance, populist movement demands include:

 • eight working hours per day,
 • graduated income tax,
 • government ownership of railroads and telephones, etc.

All the demands above were raised as a result of the second industrial revolution.

Hence, in this case, it is concluded that the populist movement was a reaction to the second industrial revolution in many ways.

Which accurately describes origins and outcomes of Latin America’s fight for independence during the 19th century?
nydimaria [60]

Answer:

The correct answer is: Many parts of Latin America were fed up with the dictatorial rule of the Spanish Crown and consequently fought for and won independence.

Explanation:

Many Latin American countries were under Spanish rule since the 15th century. Spanish Empire conquered, colonized and exploited Latin American people and territories, destroyed some ancient civilizations, like Mayas, Aztecs, and Incas, by imposing their own will and excluding colonies from economic progress and autonomous decision making.

In the late 18th century, almost all Latin American nations started their fight for political independence and sovereignty, under the strong influence of the American Revolutions and Haitian rebellion against French in 1804.

The first independent Latin American countries were: Mexico, Chile, and Colombia (1810), and later Paraguay and Venezuela (1811) while the last country that gained independence from Spain was Cuba in 1898.

Why is earth so round
o-na [289]
The only shape that fits that definition is the sphere. So, gravity is the answer to why Earth is round! If you've seen pictures of asteroids that exist in outer space, you may have noticed that some of them are irregular, rocky shapes. That's because they're not big enough to pull themselves into a sphere.
