Large spots and bright colors are a pattern among the prey of Rivulus.

In an experiment containing various pools of fish in which guppies of distinct characteristics are placed, we can see trends as to the predators attracted by specific characteristics. The characteristics taken into consideration are:

 • Coloration
 • Spotting
 • Size of spots

Though Rivulus are known to feed on insects and rarely consume guppies, the experiment would show that the characteristics of guppies that most attract the Rivulus as predators are the presence of guppies with bright coloration and large spots.

How has the response to hurricanes changed since the Galveston hurricane?
shutvik [7]
Hello there :)

I would say the answer is C. People are more aware of the dangers, so they are more likely to evacuate an area that is in the path of a hurricane

There was much devastation during the hurricanes. Belongings, Houses, Properties, an even Lives were taken by these disasters. This opened the communities' eyes more as to the effect that a natural disaster can have, and it helped people to realize the severity of the warnings that are given.

Hope this helps and have a wonderful day!

How can the allele be recessive when three children have the disease ?
(the answer is C )
Fed [463]
Both parents are normal. But, some of the kids have the disease. This indicates that the parents are heterozygous for the disease (let's use Dd). They are phenotypically fine because D is normal. But we know they must both carry the diseased d allele because their kids have the disease.
If you cross Dd x Dd you get DD, Dd, Dd and dd as the possible outcomes. But because each time they have a child they roll the dice as to which of the 4 above happens, they were unlucky as 3 of those times they got dd for their child...so 3 of them have the disease (and are dd). One is phenotypically normal but could still be Dd or DD.
