Chaucer's pilgrims made their way to Canterbury because B. Miracles associated with a famous tomb were there.

Chaucer's pilgrims were not going to Canterbury to attend an important mass on a holy day. Rather, they were going because there were miracles that were associated with a famous tomb.

They wanted to visit the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket. It was believed that the tomb of Becket has special healing powers.
