Well, a friend can munipulate you into thinking you are not cool and just are behind on the latest "trend". they can convince you into things you will regret after. Things like stealing, lie, and doing something without your guardians knowing. After you realize what you have done, there is no turning back, this is why you should listen to your gut when something does not seem right. And then you are in trouble they throw you under the bus! Toxic friends do this. Its very hard to get someones trust back after the bad thing you did
Some negative things people will try to do to persuade others to join their friend group is: lying to your face to make it seem like they are cool or to think they are better than most people. Another horrible thing they will do is steal stuff from you and blame it on someone else. Just to make you join their horrible group, and being friends with liars and stealers. They cheat you out of your emotions, they peer pressure you, they make you feel bad. These are all negative things people could/would do to you to make you guys become friends.

I think the cartoon is trying to explain the peace that occurred when FDR died. You see, his death was the same year WW2 ended. I am assuming that the man in the picture is sad because of FDR's death, therefore conveying a message in this cartoon. Hope this helps!
