A rhyme scheme is a order of rhyme patterns at the end of each line in a poem.

The people along the sand -A
All turn and look one way. B
They turn their back on the land. -A

the rhyme scheme would be A,B,A,B
If you accept either C or D as the correct revision then you have to accept both of them. Hence the best way to treat the sentence is to ignore both of them.
B is not correct either. You can over punctuate.
